The ZEMCO AP500 cruise control system is based on the LITE-ON AP500 model produced until 2019, but includes several upgrades. The main features of the ZEMCO AP500 are:
Electromechanical actuator, which—unlike a vacuum actuator—allows the cruise control to be used on diesel vehicles as well.
The actuator cable travel on the previous model was 38 or 45 mm. By replacing the included cam plate, it's now possible to choose 18 or 24 mm travel, enabling connection to the accelerator pedal. This is necessary for vehicles with mechanical pedals that have idle or full-throttle switches, or in cases where an electric cruise control cannot be installed on the vehicle’s electronic pedal.
The actuator cable is now shortenable, which simplifies installation and ensures smoother and more durable cruise control operation.
The actuator wiring connector (for installation in the engine bay) is now waterproof.
For vehicles that do not have a speed signal, the AA142 speed sensor must be installed. For vehicles that do not have a clutch pedal switch, the AA170 clutch pedal switch must be installed.
